Excellent design – VIENNA by KNOBLOCH
The traditional letterbox company Knobloch from Saxony has been maintaining the range of design products with special love for years. In close cooperation with the designer Wolfgang Beiler-Schlehaider, innovative and outstanding products were created.
The VIENNA mailbox is the result of considerations on how to combine maximum functionality and timeless design. In this design mailbox, the door element is basically an outer casing that completely encloses the actual mailbox in the form of a truncated pyramid. Due to this geometry, the designer tapered all sides towards the wall, which prevents rainwater from entering – even in the event of heavy driving rain. A completely new opening mechanism was therefore imperative. With a slight pull on the top edge of the door, the slot is released until it locks. When released, a spring mechanism gently returns the door to its original position. The door can only be fully opened with the key. This innovative design concept also means that neither the screw, the rivet nor the hinge on the outer casing disturb the appearance. At the same time, great importance was attached to sustainability. The entire mailbox is made of 99% metal. The door element is made of 2 mm aluminum, the inner case made of stainless steel. A long lifespan is therefore guaranteed. For its technical sophistication and convincing design, the VIENNA from KNOBLOCH has already been awarded the reddot design award honorable mention and has already won the Saxon State Prize for Design.
