• Anodized surfaces offer protection against mechanical influences and are weather and corrosion resistant. The metallic luster of the material is retained because the oxide layer is transparent. In particular, mailbox systems, and here in particular door side systems, are often used with anodized surfaces in order to make them optically suitable for anodized facades and anodized entrance systems.

• The EURAS standard is used to define the same color of the existing parts. For absolute color consistency, the customer must provide a sample. In principle, all desired colors can be achieved.

 

• PVD COATING

• The PVD coating is a special process when a brass-colored surface is desired in the area of the mailboxes and bell panels. Polished stainless steel parts are steamed in a vacuum chamber. Since original brass parts weather quickly and are very sensitive to vandalism with a paint protection layer, a PVD coating is an alternative, as it creates a very hard, resistant surface.

• Otherwise, this process can be used to create many color shades from gold to brass, bronze, copper, silver, gray, anthracite to black or matt black. The process is very complex and therefore also very cost-intensive. However, it is convincing in terms of quality and is therefore offered by KNOBLOCH when inquiring about brass-colored articles.

• In addition to stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized steel sheet with a small zinc flower are processed. Aluminum and sheet steel are always powder-coated or anodized for aluminum. Pretreatment is always preceded by powder coating. In addition to the existing corrosion protection (galvanizing or aluminum), iron phosphating (sheet steel) or chrome-free passivation (aluminum) is carried out here. This makes these materials even more oxidative. The pre-treatment also serves to degrease and apply a primer to the materials to be coated. Then the powder coating (plastic coating) takes place. In addition to the coloring, this process also serves to protect against corrosion.KNOBLOCH generally uses brushed stainless steel V2A for stainless steel products, as this provides adequate protection against corrosion. The processing of stainless steel V4A is recommended if the mailbox system is installed near the chemical industry or in coastal areas, which comes into direct contact with salt water or is constantly exposed to very salty air.
